Four Finalists Named for UAM Chancellor Post

Following a nationwide search, four finalists have been chosen to interview to become the next chancellor at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM).

Longtime UAM Chancellor Jack Lassiter retired Dec. 31, 2014.

University of Arkansas System President Don Bobbitt, Ph.D., along with the help of a search committee made up of faculty, staff and members of the UAM community and led by Mary Whiting, dean of enrollment at UAM, narrowed the four finalists from a large pool of candidates interested in becoming the university’s 12th leader.

The four finalists are:

  • Timothy Cornelius, vice president for learning, global business, health professions, external programs and adult basic education at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville
  • Richard Dawe, Ph.D., president of Ozarka College in Melbourne
  • Robert McGehee, Ph.D., dean of the UAMS Graduate School and executive director of the Arkansas Biosciences Institute
  • Steven Runge, Ph.D., executive vice president and provost at the University of Central Arkansas

“I’d like to thank the diligent work done by the committee and everyone else involved to this point to ensure we find the best candidate to continue UAM’s progress as a regional institution of higher education and as an integral piece of  the UA System’s overall mission,” Bobbitt said. “I am very eager to begin the interview process to learn more about these candidates and their vision for this role.”

Dates for interviews have not yet been set, but are being arranged and will be held in the coming weeks.
