The National Anthem has always been an opportunity to stand respectfully, place our hands on our hearts, and take a moment to honor the many freedoms we enjoy due to the courage, commitment and sacrifice of others. We understand and respect that those freedoms mean different things to different people. While it disappoints us to see attention being taken away from this traditional act of remembrance and gratitude, it is also important to recognize the open spirit of our campuses to engage in meaningful, educational and respectful conversations about these issues.
