Gov. Hutchinson Appoints Boyer to UA Board of Trustees

April 11, 2017 by Nate Hinkel

LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson today appointed Tommy Boyer, of Fayetteville, to the Board of Trustees of the University of Arkansas.

Boyer replaces Reynie Rutledge and his term will expire March 1, 2027.

Boyer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1964, where he was also an All-American basketball player. He served for four years as the chairman of the Campaign for the 21st Century, was a member of the University of Arkansas Foundation Board of Directors, and chaired the Walton College’s Dean’s Executive Advisory Board from 2003 to 2008. He and his wife Sylvia were founding and gold members of the Towers of Old Main. They were honored by the university as Volunteers of the Year in 1992 and received the Arkansas Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 1999. He also received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the Walton College in 1999.

“I would like to thank Mr. Rutledge for his many years of service, dedication and leadership as a Trustee,” said Donald R. Bobbitt, president of the UA System. “I benefitted greatly from Mr. Rutledge’s advice and direction during his time on the Board. I would also like to welcome Mr. Boyer to the Trustees as we continue to move forward with our overarching goals of providing exceptional educational and professional opportunities to the state and beyond. With his impressive background and already extensive history of service and contributions to our System, I look forward to working with Mr. Boyer and the rest of the Board to continue our mission.”

Boyer was inducted into the Arkansas Business Hall of Fame in 2013. Click here for more information, including a video from this event’s induction ceremony.
